Halloween Activities Kick Off Across Eastern Ohio

Organization in belmont, Harrison and Monroe counties will host trunk or treat events and other Halloween activities in the coming weeks with the first taking place today.

The first trunk or treat of the season will be hosted by the Bellaire Planning Committee from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bellaire City Park. Trunk or treat organizers and adult participants often decorate the trunks of the cars in a holiday theme and pass out candy to children who are usually in costume. The practice was started as a potentially safer alternative to trick-or-treating and has gained popularity in recent years.

On Thursday, The Experience Church will host its annual Rock the Pumpkin trunk or treat from 6-8 p.m. at Bridgeport High School. The church will provide candy for all vehicles that participate. The free event will also feature food trucks and temporary tattoos.

The village of Holloway will be having trunk or treat at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Holloway Old Timers property. The event will feature a trunk contest and a costume contest. Trunk or treat will be held in conjunction with the Holloway Methodist Church Fall Festival.

The church’s fall festival will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday and will feature games and hayrides. During the activities, the church will also host a barbecue fundraiser from noon until food is sold out. The event will also feature an auction and a dessert table.

After the festival, a Halloween cake walk and dance sponsored by the Holloway Cadets will take place. The cake walk will be from 3:30-5 p.m., and the dance will take place from 6-10 p.m. at Glen Helter Pavilion.

Arbors at Woodsfield is partnering up with Trustwell Living for trick or treat and trunk or treat starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at Westwood Place, located at 37950 Airport Road, Woodsfield. Vehicles will be decorated in the parking lot for trunk or treat, and residents will be handing out candy inside the facility. Refreshments will be provided.

Relevant Worship Center will host trunk or treat from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 21 at Relevant Worship Center off U.S. 40 east of St. Clairsville.

Also on Oct. 21, the Wise Building at the Belmont County Fairgrounds will be the site of a trunk or treat event. It will be held noon to 2 p.m.

East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry will also have its parking lot full of decorated cars and costumes from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 24.

Buffalo Wild Wings, Sports Clips Haircuts, and Lancione, Lloyd and Hoffman law office in St. Clairsville will sponsor trunk or treat from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Buffalo Wild Wings in St. Clairsville. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Emerald Pointe Health and Rehabilitation in Barnesville will be hosting trunk or treat from 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in the facility’s parking lot.

The Bridgeport Church of God and Brookside Park District are once again teaming up for trunk or treat. The event will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the church. This year’s event has a western theme.

The Humane Society of Harrison County will host a trunk or treat from 4-6 p.m. on Oct. 29 at 84033 Mizer Road, Cadiz.

Grace Church in Martins Ferry also will host a trunk or treat on Oct. 29 beginning at 2 p.m.

And the village of Lafferty will hold a trunk or treat from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the township parking lot beginning at 5 p.m., preceded by a children’s Halloween party from 3-5 p.m. at the Lafferty Moose.
