In Tajikistan, 398 debtors have been put on the wanted list for late payment of alimony and concealment of their place of residence. This was announced by the head of the Execution Service under the Government of Tajikistan Barno Saidvalizoda at a press conference in Dushanbe on February 6.

“In 2022, alimony in the amount of about 40 million somoni was collected in favor of the mother and child, which is 46 percent more than a year ago,” she noted.

Barno Saidvalizoda noted that in connection with the malicious evasion of the debtors from paying alimony on the proposal of the executors, criminal cases were initiated against 538 debtors, in accordance with the requirements of Article 177 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan.

On the basis of the Civil Procedure Code of the Republic of Tajikistan, if the debtor refuses to pay alimony for more than one month, the case on the recovery of alimony from him is transferred to the court.

According to official data, more than 30 families break up every day in Tajikistan. The main reasons for divorces are interference by a third party in family life, domestic violence against women, difficult economic situation, long-term separation of spouses, one of whom is in labor migration, lack of separate housing.
