The State Duma plans to consider an initiative under which additional points for military service will be given when entering a university or college. This was reported in the telegram channel of the lower house of parliament.
The draft law on amendments to the federal law “On Education in the Russian Federation” has been published in the legislative activity support system. It is assumed that this will apply to any higher and secondary vocational education and undergraduate, specialist and master’s programs, postgraduate studies, residency or postgraduate studies.
“The measure is aimed at encouraging citizens to perform military duties. Its implementation will contribute to strengthening the patriotic education of students, the formation of readiness for the defense of the Motherland, as well as increasing the prestige of military service, ”the explanatory note to the bill specifies.
To date, additional points for admission to universities are awarded for victories in olympiads, sports achievements, volunteer activities and graduation from school with honors. This list is to be expanded.
