Southern Arizona Mom Grieving Loss of Daughter After She Was Given Fentanyl

It’s been two years of constant delays to even get to this point of sentencing.

Again, on Tuesday there were more delays, but this family is not deterred and many other families who lost their children to fentanyl showed up in force today to show their support.

“She was the funniest, sweetest little girl from the day she was born. She just brought light into this world,” Danya Pairrett Ayere said.

Through tears, Danya Pairrett Ayeres remembers her daughter Hannah who died in 2019 soon after being given fentanyl pills by Michael Allen Fox.

“This is a poison, it’s not an overdose it’s a poison and a lot of it is maliciously given to our children,” Ayere said.

She says her daughter thought she was taking percocet, but it was actually fentanyl.

Eventually, Fox was charged by the DOJ and pleaded guilty to giving Hannah fentanyl, but disputes it causing her death.

During the sentencing, both sides called witnesses for the judge to determine how severe his sentence should be.

“Everytime we think it’s going to be done, it feels like we get punched in the stomach.”

Many cases never make it this far. Like the case of Tucson mother Theresa Guerrero. Whoever gave her son fentanyl was never charged. She showed up to support Danya.

Theresa “if your child died from fentanyl we’re all here and are going to be here for you,” Theresa said.

Outside of court Michael Fox had little to say.

“I’m ok. I’m sorry for her family, but I’m ok,” said Fox.

After hearing todays slow moving witness testimony, the judge wasn’t ready to issue a ruling he scheduled another hearing November 14th.
